Anti-Terror Pact in Asia

The 10-nation Association of Southeast Asian Nations agreed on May 21 to step up the war on terrorism. Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia will lead in training their neighbors in intelligence-sharing, airport security, and explosive detection. The pact could pave the way for a sweep of the extremist group, Laskar Jihad, which was implicated in recent bomb plots in Singapore and the Philippines. EDITED BY Edited by Rose Brady
