Bertelsmann Agrees to Acquire Napster

German media company Bertelsmann agrees to acquire

online music service Napster. The deal calls for Bertelsmann to pay $8 million to Napster's creditors, according to news reports. Napster's top executives say they will rejoin the company after resigning earlier in the week when Napster's board, controlled by venture capital firm Hummer Winblad, had rejected Bertelsmann's acquisition offers.
