The Federal Reserve tracks output by manufacturers, mines, and utilities. The data are broken down into specific industries, including the important motor-vehicle sector. Capacity utilization calculates if factories have too much unused capacity or are operating full tilt.PURCHASING MANAGERS' INDEX
