The production index dipped in the week ended Apr. 10. The unaveraged indexincreased to 142.3, from 141.8. After seasonal adjustment, steel productiondropped 2.4%, and even steel-recycling levels have dropped because ofproduction cutbacks caused by the record increases in foreign-steel imports.Truck production was also down.
