Labor: Staying Power

Having trouble finding good help? Almost all entrepreneurs are. Since their shallower pockets make it hard to match bigger companies' salaries, more small companies are adding perks (chart), especially low-cost "workstyle" benefits such as telecommuting. But many aren't even trying to compete for workers. A recent poll by American City Business Journals Inc. found that although 95% of small companies have some labor problems, 53% are doing "nothing in particular" to find and keep workers.Return to top
