PRODUCTION INDEXThe production index continued to rebound during the week ended Aug. 29.Before calculation of the four-week moving average, the index jumped to 136.2from 134.8, as auto, truck, and electric power production increased strongly.For the month of August, the index surged 2.7% to 135.2, from July's readingof 131.7.
