Personal Business: WORTH NOTING

A WAY OUT

If you've been going round and round with the tax man, set aside Saturday, Nov. 15. That's the first of the Internal Revenue Service's new problem-solving days to resolve disputes over such issues as whether you paid enough in withholding or estimated taxes. Each of the agency's 33 district offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; call ahead to see if you need an appointment. You can bring along your tax preparer, plus papers supporting your case. Just don't expect leniency. Says IRS spokesman Don Roberts: "We're not going to give you a break."
