COMMENTARYDespite a 45-point pullback on Mar. 12, the Dow Jones industrials posted animpressive gain for the week. Big stocks continued to dominate the action. Forthe year so far, the Standard & Poor's 500-stock index, a broad measure oflarge-cap performance, has risen 8.6%, while the S&P SmallCap 600 has managedto eke out only a 1% gain. Gold stocks have been drawing investor interest asmergers in that sector seem likely. The best-performing mutual funds over thepast month, as shown on this page, have been the gold funds.
