`PROSPERING' WOULD BE MORE LIKE IT

I must respond to your portrayal of Equity Residential Properties Trust (EQR) in "Has Sam been minding the store?" (Finance, Nov. 13). I do not agree with your category selection of "mixed" regarding EQR's performance. Between our initial public offering in August, 1993, and Sept. 30 of this year, dividends per share have gone up 17%, the stock price is up 8%, revenues are up 212%, and the total market capitalization is up 195%. If you had been familiar with our performance, I believe our company would have been properly placed in the "prospering" category of your story.
