ARGENTINA: A BIGGER DROP IN THE POVERTY RATE

Your article "Menem: The devil's real name is devaluation" (International Business, Aug. 28) is very good and reflects faithfully what was said, with the exception of a number that is incorrect, perhaps due to an error in translation or printing.

To the question "What will you do about joblessness?" I replied that unemployment rose but that the levels of poverty decreased notably--since the poverty rate when I assumed the presidency was 37% and now is 13%, not 30% as published.

I believe the difference is important.
