SAYONARA FOR MURAYAMA?

Japan's Socialist Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama is in trouble following his party's humiliating defeat in upper house elections on July 23. Business leaders are urging Murayama's stronger coalition partner, the Liberal Democratic Party, to dump the premier and install one of its own to sort out Japan's economic problems. The betting is that either Foreign Minister Yohei Kono or MITI chief Ryutaro Hashimoto will grab the coveted premier's spot before yearend.EDITED BY STANLEY REED
