UNKIND CUTS

EMPLOYERS WHO END A job search without letting the rejected applicants know--politely--that the job has been filled are probably hurting the company. So says an article in Business Horizons, published by the Indiana University Graduate School of Business. Companies can embitter applicants who are potential customers and may discourage people from applying for future jobs they may be better qualified for, say authors Thomas S. Brice of Electronic Survey Professionals and Marie Waung of the University of Michigan in Dearborn. They provide six suggestions, including using a blind ad if you cannot respond to every applicant.
