It's Mac Vs. Windows

IT'S MAC VS. WINDOWS

A number of readers took me to task for my Apr. 3 column, "Programming without tears." I said Macs are harder to program than Windows machines and that there are no Mac equivalents to the programs I mentioned. Professional developers are right that the Mac offers first-rate programming tools. But the tools I focused on were for more casual users. Also, Mac programs are pricey and sometimes hard to find. Mac fans who aren't intimidated by those drawbacks should look at Mac versions of Novell's AppWare ($500) and Allegiant Technologies' SuperCard 1.7 ($295).BY STEPHEN H. WILDSTROM
