ONE MORE SWIPE AT THE PENTIUM

LITTLE BY LITTLE, INTEL IS losing its microprocessor monopoly. Compaq Computer is expected to announce as early as Mar. 27 that a future personal-computer line will use the only existing challenger to Intel's Pentium--a chip made by tiny NexGen of Milpitas, Calif. An investor in NexGen, Compaq would be the first big PC maker to use its chip, though it also will use Advanced Micro Devices' upcoming Pentium rival.
