For Mature Multimedia Audiences Only

Bits & Bytes

TRY MAKING LOVE IN FRONT of a big mirror. So goes one of the suggestions in the multimedia version of The Joy of Sex, a CD-ROM that conjures up a new meaning for the term graphical interface. The revealing adults-only disk is published by Mitchell Beazley International Ltd. and Philips Interactive Media International Ltd. and based on the 1972 best-selling book. A hard-bound pocket-size version is included.

Like the printed work, the disk explores such topics as arousal, fun and fantasy, and a variety of positions (complete with sketches). But the electronic version adds narration and a series of explicit video sequences, including one right at the start. Also, to help you get a feel for your own mores, the disk includes a questionnaire. Rest assured, parents: You can lock the kids out of Joy with a four-digit password.EDITED BY IRA SAGER
