COMMENTARY

Stocks continue to confound the experts. Despite the severe tightening of

interest rates by the Federal Reserve on Nov. 15, shares closed up for the

week. European markets were also strong, especially in London. Japan, however,

seems to be stuck in the doldrums, as investors, both domestic and foreign, are

shunning that market. If long rates in the U.S. don't move much above 8%, we

could see a major stock market rally. Note that the four technical indicators

on this page all point to go.
