September payrolls are expected to have risen by 248,000 after August's 179,000 gain, while the forecasters look for the unemployment rate to hold steady at 6.1%. The MMS survey also foresees a 0.3% gain in hourly earnings and a 20,000 increase in manufacturing jobs.
