ALL IN THE HAFT FAMILY

Retailing magnate Herbert Haft may be eating Thanksgiving dinner alone this autumn. Last year, Washington's Haft declared war on his wife, Gloria, his eldest son, Robert, and his daughter, Linda--settling with them in May for $80 million and an agreement that they all leave Dart Group, the family-run company. Now, Haft, 74, is at odds with his 35-year-old son, Ronald, his last remaining ally. Ronald, Dart's president, claims his father is improperly raiding company coffers to pay the family settlement. Herbert says Ronald is trying to gain control of the company and at one point, threatened to burn Herbert's house down. The feud is being mediated by an outside mediator.EDITED BY KEITH H. HAMMONDS
