THE DNC IS IN THE RED BECAUSE IT SUPPORTED NAFTA
In "Empty war chest: How the Dems blew $30 million" (Washington Outlook, Mar. 14), your criticism of the Democratic National Committee's $2 million deficit for 1993 neglects to mention that part of the DNC's current troubles arise from their standing on principle in their vigorous fight to support President Clinton in the passage of NAFTA. Organized labor withheld its contributions to the DNC in reaction to that fight.
