RECIPES OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS SERVED ON A DISK

As someone who spends most of his time hobnobbing with the rich and famous, Robin Leach says he doesn't fall for all the hype. "Fame is all an illusion," he says privately. Celebrities are ordinary people who spend their time doing mundane things, such as cooking, he says. A new multimedia compact disk, read-only memory (CD-ROM) narrated by Leach gives people a glimpse of the favorite recipes of the stars. Called The Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous Cookbook, the disk packs 30 minutes of full-motion video clips, 25 minutes of sound, and details on over 200 recipes.

Distributed by Compton's NewMedia Inc., the $39.95 disk includes many mouth-watering menus and footage from Leach's 10-year-old TV series. Joan Collins, for instance, shows off spaghetti bolognese, and Jerry Lewis tells about his roasted snapper. Ivana Trump even whips up some native Czech dishes. Leach's culinary machinations aren't stopping with his new CD, either. The celebrity schmoozer will show up this month on The Food Channel, a new cable-TV service, spotlighting more haute soci t cuisine.EDITED BY PAUL M. ENG
