BUYERS LINE UP FOR COMPTON'S NEWMEDIA

The worlds of computers and entertainment are moving ever nearer. The latest evidence: Compton's NewMedia, a leading seller of multimedia software on CD-ROM disks, is up for sale, and potential buyers include Paramount, Sony, and Cox Communications. Compton's parent, Encyclopedia Britannica, doesn't have the resources to develop and market expensive consumer entertainment titles, such as the interactive Compleat Beatles disks to be announced on Mar. 31.
