ORACLE'S FUTURE WILL INCLUDE ABRAHAMSON

Former Strategic Defense Initiative Director James Abrahamson has left a top spot at Hughes Aircraft to serve as co-chairman of Oracle Systems, the data-base software giant. He joins CEO Lawrence Ellison in a new "office of the chairman."

Abrahamson, a former Air Force general, was tapped for his expertise in heading up complex programs, an Oracle board member says. Two examples: NASA's space shuttle and the Air Force's F-16 fighter. Although it's on the mend, Oracle has suffered serious lapses in management in the recent past.EDITED BY HARRIS COLLINGWOOD
