A GLUM OSCAR NIGHT FOR GE

Activists engaged in a boycott of General Electric have found a new way of getting attention: They won an Oscar. On Mar. 30, the film, Deadly Deception: General Electric, Nuclear Weapons, and Our Environment, won the Oscar for best documentary, short subject. It was produced by Infact, a Boston-based group whose mission is to force GE out of the nuclear weapons business. In her acceptance speech, filmmaker Debra Chasnoff urged the event's 1.5 billion viewers to "boycott GE."EDITED BY HARRIS COLLINGWOOD
