SWISS ARMY KNIVES AREN'T ONLY IN FORSCHNER'S POCKET

Your article "Atten-hut! It's the Swiss Army watch" (Inside Wall Street, Mar. 23) suggests that Forschner is the exclusive U.S. distributor for all Swiss Army knives.

The Forschner Group is the exclusive distributor in the U.S. of Swiss Army knives that are manufactured by Victorinox in Ibach, Switzerland. Precise International is the exclusive U.S. distributor for Swiss Army knives that are manufactured by Wenger in Delemont, Switzerland. Both Swiss companies have been official suppliers to the Swiss Army since 1908.

Both Forschner and Precise sell substantial quantities of Swiss Army knives in the U.S. through a wide array of retail outlets.

The article stated that "Kmart is expected to start carrying Swiss Army products this year." In fact, Kmart has been carrying Wenger Swiss Army products that are distributed by Precise for over 30 years.
