P&G TAKES UP WITH A SOVIET UNIVERSITY

On the heels of the failed Soviet coup, Procter & Gamble is setting up shop with an unusual partner: Leningrad State University. The giant marketer will import brands it makes in Europe through a joint venture with the university. Eventually, it may even use university buildings to make some of its products. P&G, which recently bought the leading Czechoslovakian detergent maker, Rakona, was getting set to announce the Soviet venture when the coup came, causing a week's delay.EDITED BY PETER FINCH
