Determine Your Web Site's Breaking Point

Posted by: on November 20

Few things are more frustrating to a consumer than trying to visit a Web page only to be greeted with an error message—or worse, no message at all. Web site outages aggravate visitors and threaten to drive would-be customers to competitors with sites that function without flaws.

For any company introducing a function to a Web site, launching an advertising campaign, or anticipating major media coverage, an endorsement, or some other event that will attract heavy online traffic, it is imperative to determine how many users the site can accommodate.

Web site load-testing services help businesses of all sizes simulate Web traffic and test the limits of a site’s capacity. This testing ensures that Web sites will work well under the heaviest anticipated loads, keeping visitors and potential customers satisfied and able to access your information.

Although load-testing helps you determine and adjust your peak performance levels, it doesn’t necessarily ensure that the threshold won’t be broken. So be prepared with a lighthearted, graceful, and/or humorous error page that lets visitors know you have recognized the glitch and will be up and running again soon.
