Digging In

Posted by: Rod Kurtz on October 17, 2008

Circumstances often confront small business owners with the unknown. Those who overvalue the appearance of knowing what they’re doing tend to respond with bluster or defensiveness. Over time, such reactions can prompt a small business owner to dig into an uninformed position.

Review the beliefs and decisions you guard most fiercely—look for signs that they may rest on shaky ground, or that you harbor a reactive need to be right. Then challenge yourself to have the courage to fill in the blanks, and to make changes based on what you discover.
