Depending on the size of an organization, moves, adds, and changes can often be a hefty, inconsistent, and unexpected expense.
When planning your company’s data and communications infrastructure, make sure you account for future growth and mobility. On the communications front, consider a Voice over Internet Protocol(VOIP)-based system instead of a traditional PBX. Since the VoIP handset’s network address is tied to the device itself, not the port it plugs into (like a traditional phone system), it can be moved from location to location along with an employee, and the user’s extension and features will follow him or her—whether it be to a different office location or to his or her home.
With VoIP, users can also move themselves or use a designated non-technical contact instead of calling their phone system vendor, waiting and then paying for them to "hardwire" the new changes.
