How to Make a Sophisticated Phone System Affordable

Small businesses have been excluded from sophisticated phone systems with auto-attendant and extensions because of the prohibitive upfront cost. Until now, larger phone system vendors have largely failed to deliver a product geared towards small businesses. With the availability of hosted and virtual phone systems that can be configured online, however, small businesses have unprecedented power to manage their communication needs.

You can sign up for a hosted phone system on a subscription basis. These systems are generally inexpensive and require very little setup time, and you can begin to use them and start building a company presence immediately. Set up your system to greet callers with an automated attendant that provides extension options and directs the caller to the chosen selection. Calls can even be forwarded to numbers outside the office.

Make sure your system can be managed remotely through a Web interface. This feature may come in handy for small businesses that don’t have the personnel to handle calls or manage call forwarding.
