The Verdict Is In Part II

Posted by: Stacy Perman on August 27, 2008

Yesterday, I posted a blog indicating that a federal jury had awarded Mattel $40 million in damages in its federal copyright infringement suit against Bratz maker MGA Entertainment. The figure came from the initial Associated Press announcement on the case. Today, however, the AP is reporting that the jury had ordered MGA and its CEO Isaac Larian to pay $90 million in regards to three allegations and MGA’s Hong Kong subsidiary $10 million for copyright infringement. According to the updated story, MGA intends to ask the judge to set total damages at a cap of $40 million. No punitive damages were assigned to MGA.
