When Only A Voice Message Can Get Your Point Across

Bits & Bytes

WHEN ONLY A VOICE MESSAGE CAN GET YOUR POINT ACROSS

Speaking your thoughts is often easier than typing them. That's the simple idea behind Remark, a program for PC networks from Simpact Associates Inc., based in San Diego. Remark allows users to insert voice messages or even an entire conversation into electronic documents such as sales reports or financial statements.

Here's how it works: Sitting at your IBM PC or compatible, you click on a screen symbol that looks like a telephone. Your phone rings, and you record a message. The message then becomes embedded in the document. When you send the document to someone else on the network, the message goes along. When your colleague opens the electronic file on her screen and sees the phone symbol, she clicks the mouse. Her phone rings, and she hears your message. Remark starts at $3,000.EDITED BY EVAN I.
