Pfizer Inc. (PFE) won a court injunction to block the sale in Spain of generic versions of the erectile- dysfunction drug Viagra, Cinco Dias reported.
A Barcelona court ordered makers of 17 copies that are based on the active ingredient in Viagra, sildenafil citrate, to halt distribution for at least several months, the Spanish newspaper said, citing a copy of the order.
The U.S. pharmaceuticals maker has exclusive rights through its patent until June of 2013 for Viagra, one of the most copied drugs, the report said, adding that versions of Viagra are sold “without control” on about 15,000 websites worldwide.
