Forget The Visuals Of Padma Lakshmi's Carl's Jr. Ad--Or Try To--And Ask Youself This Question

As you’ve probably heard, Carl’s Jr. just did another stunt ad. This one features extraordinarily attractive (and, in this case, scantily-clad) author and Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi enjoying some quality time with their heart-attack-inducing Western Bacon Six Dollar burger.

The extended remix:

Seriously now: Lakshmi—whose entire cred is based on being extremely knowledgeable and serious about food—is doing a fast food commercial?

Does this strike anyone else as being kind of (jargon alert) off-brand? As such, isn’t it kind of a stupid move?

In case you’re keeping score at home, calorielab.com reports Carl’s Jr’s Western Bacon Six Dollar Chest-Clutching Cardiac Event contains 57 grams of fat (87.7% of the recommended daily allowance) 26 grams of saturated fat (over 100% of the recommended daily allowance), and clocks in at 960 calories. Though as far as I know, it has not showed up at thisiswhyyourefat.com, yet.

Also: “more than just a piece of meat?” Nice. [severe coughing]
