Chilean Stocks: Banco Santander Chile, Enersis and Soquimich

December 01, 2011

Dec. 1 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa index fell 0.5 percent to 4,140.15. The MSCI Chile index fell 0.4 percent to 2,255.35.

Banco Santander Chile (BSAN CC), the country’s largest bank, fell 2.8 percent to 32.19 pesos. The brokerage unit of Banco de Credito & Inversiones sees “considerable” risks for investors in the upcoming sale of a 7.8 percent stake in the lender by its Spanish controller, according to an e-mailed note to clients yesterday. The roadshow for the sale will end Dec. 5.

Enersis SA (ENERSIS CC) rose for the third time in four days, climbing 2 percent to 183.61 pesos. The unit of Spain’s Endesa SA announced yesterday it will pay a dividend of 1.4656 pesos per share, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Soc. Quimica & Minera de Chile SA (SQM/B CC) advanced 1.3 percent to 29,638 pesos. Gains in some crop prices signaled stronger demand for the fertilizers that Soquimich exports.
