Aqua America Agrees to Manage Water Systems in Chicago Heights

February 07, 2014

Aqua America Inc. (WTR:US), the second-largest U.S. water utility, agreed to manage Chicago Heights, Illinois’s public water system for two years.

The company will be paid $500,000 over the duration of the contract, Lee Florida, a spokeswoman with Vault Communications Inc. representing Aqua America, said today in an e-mail.

Chicago Heights will retain ownership of the water and wastewater systems, which serve about 30,000 customers, according to a statement from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania-based Aqua America.

American Water Works Co. is the largest U.S. water utility by market value.
