Lazard Ltd. (LAZ:US), the largest independent merger-advisory firm, hired former Serbian Finance Minister Bozidar Djelic for its sovereign-advisory group headed by Matthieu Pigasse in Paris.
Djelic, economy and finance minister from 2001 to 2004, also led Serbia’s negotiations to enter the European Union from 2007 to 2011 as deputy prime minister, Lazard said in a statement today. Djelic, 48, joins as a managing director.
A former partner of McKinsey & Co. in the Paris and California offices before 2001, Djelic worked as Credit Agricole SA’s director for Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union countries, Lazard said.
