Harvard-Yale Hockey Promoted By Former Rangers Captain Messier

December 20, 2013

Former New York Rangers captain Mark Messier has been selected as brand ambassador for the college hockey game between Harvard University and Yale University on Jan. 11 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Messier, 52, who was captain of the Rangers’ last Stanley Cup championship team in 1994, is now chief executive officer of the planned Kingsbridge National Ice Center in New York.

He will join in pre-event activities, make promotional appearances and help support the Harvard-Yale “Rivalry on Ice” game, which is owned and operated by Leverage Agency.

“Hockey represents more than just a sport; it is a vehicle through which we can instill in our children values like teamwork, discipline and commitment,” Messier said in a news release. “Events like ‘Rivalry on Ice’ offer a platform to invite families to experience the passion of our sport, while showcasing athletes whose athletic pursuits provide access to an unparalleled education.”
