Balasubramaniam was business director of GE’s locomotive projects and formerly served as chief executive officer of GE Water Process and Technologies, South Asia. Xylem’s works in India, the second-most populous nation, include power, industrial, irrigation, water and wastewater-treatment projects.
“His success in growing GE’s water business in India fit perfectly with our need to develop further in this important growth market,” said Steve Loranger, CEO and president of Xylem.
‘‘Bala’’ replaces Sam Yamdagni, who’s leaving the company, White Plains, New York-based Xylem said in a statement.
