Aqua America to Boost Dividend After Second-Quarter Income Gain

Aqua America Inc. (WTR:US), the second-largest U.S. water utility by market value, will boost its dividend after second-quarter income increased.

Aqua America will raise its quarterly dividend 9 percent to 19 cents a share effective Sept. 1, the Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania-based company said in a statement yesterday. Net income rose to $53.6 million, or 38 cents per share, from $41.4 million, or 30 cents, in 2012.

American Water Works Co. is the largest U.S. water utility.
