Aqua America Buys Water System in Pennsylvania for $3.4 Million

Aqua America Inc. (WTR:US), the second-largest U.S. water utility by market value, bought a community water system in Pennsylvania for $3.4 million.

The utility purchased the water assets from Bristol Township, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northeast of Philadelphia, Aqua America said today in a statement. The system serves about 1,300 residents and 175 businesses.

The acquisition is Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania-based Aqua America’s eighth this year, according to the statement.

American Water Works Co. is the largest U.S. water utility.
