Brazil’s Rousseff Promises $22 Billion for Transport Upgrades

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff today pledged 50 billion reais ($22.5 billion) for urban mobility and public transport upgrades as policy makers seek to quell three weeks of street protests.

Rousseff said she will create a national council to improve public transportation, according to a post on the official presidential blog. The president spoke today as she met with governors and mayors in Brasilia.
