Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka overcame 10 double faults as she held off Alize Cornet to move to the fourth round of the French Open.
The third-seeded Azarenka of Belarus beat the No. 31 seed from France, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 on the main Court Philippe Chatrier in Paris.
Sloane Stephens, the No. 17 seed from the U.S. also moved to the fourth round, beating New Zealand’s Marina Erakovic in three sets.
Later today, men’s top seed Novak Djokovic plays Bulgaria’s 26th seed Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, while defending men’s champion Rafael Nadal of Spain faces Italy’s Fabio Fognini. Maria Sharapova, the defending women’s champion of Russia, plays China’s Zheng Jie.
