Aqua America Raises Dividend 9%, Approves 5-for-4 Stock Split

Aqua America Inc. (WTR:US), the second-largest water company in the U.S. by market value, declared a 9 percent increase in its quarterly dividend.

The 19 cents per share dividend, up from 17.5 cents, was Aqua America’s second increase in nine months and the seventh stock split in 17 years, the Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania-based water utility said today in a statement.

Aqua America shares have risen 25 percent this year compared with a 12 percent gain by American Water Works Co., the biggest publicly traded U.S. water company.
