Security forces in the central African country of Chad quashed an attempted coup against President Idriss Deby’s government, Reuters reported.
Authorities who had tracked the coup plotters since last year foiled the coup yesterday, Reuters said, citing a televised address by Communications Minister Hassan Sylla Bakary.
Security services made arrests from within the ranks of the army yesterday, Reuters reported, citing military sources it didn’t identify. Opposition lawmaker Saleh Maki was also detained, Reuters said, citing his family.
