Germany’s diesel and heating oil consumption rose in January from a year earlier, according to data from the Association of the German Petroleum Industry.
Diesel use in Europe’s largest economy gained 2.4 percent to 2.5 million tons, data posted today on the association’s website show.
Heating oil demand rose 26 percent to 1.68 million tons. Germany is the continent’s largest market for that fuel.
Gasoline consumption declined 7.6 percent to 1.38 million tons, the data show. European nations have shifted to greater use of diesel, at the expense of gasoline, in the past decade.
