Swiss producer and import prices advanced for a fifth month in January, led by higher domestic costs.
Prices of products ranging from factory to farm goods as well as imports increased 0.8 percent from a year earlier after climbing an annual 1 percent in December, the Federal Statistics Office in Neuchatel, Switzerland, said today. Economists forecast a gain of 1 percent, the median of five estimates in a Bloomberg News survey showed. Prices fell 0.1 percent in the month.
Import costs declined 0.3 percent in the month and 0.1 percent from a year earlier, today’s report showed. Producer prices fell 0.1 percent in the month and advanced 1.2 percent in the year.
