Romania to Make Fewer Troops Available for Overseas Service

February 05, 2013

Romania plans to lower the number of soldiers available for service abroad this year by 312, the president’s office said today.

The Romanian army will now have a force of 2,036 ready to serve in missions under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, European Union or United Nations, according to an e-mailed statement. Romania will also make available about 490 soldiers or policemen from the country’s Interior Affairs Ministry to serve in international missions, the presidency said.
