Chilean winery Luis Felipe Edwards bought 700 hectares (1,730 acres) of vineyards in the Colchagua Valley south of Santiago near Santa Cruz, Decanter.com said.
The land is in a cool-climate area and is planted mainly to Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, according to Decanter magazine’s website. The winery is planning to double the current size of its vineyard holdings, after already planting 150 hectares of vines elsewhere in Colchagua, 160 hectares in Leyda Valley and 400 hectares in the Retiro region of Maule Valley, Decanter.com said.
