Ten-Man Real Madrid Beats Sociedad 4-3 as Ronaldo Scores Twice

January 06, 2013

Real Madrid recovered from goalkeeper Antonio Adan’s sixth-minute red card to beat Real Sociedad 4-3 in Spain’s Primera Liga today.

Cristiano Ronaldo got two goals for Madrid after Karim Benzema and Sami Khedira also scored at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Xabi Prieto got all the goals for Sociedad, who had Daniel Estrada sent off in the 79th minute for a second yellow card.

Madrid captain Iker Casillas, again left out by coach Jose Mourinho, came off the substitutes’ bench to replace Adan after his dismissal for bringing down Carlos Vela.

Real Madrid, in third place, is 13 points behind leader Barcelona, which hosts city rival Espanyol today. Second-placed Atletico Madrid, which plays at Real Mallorca, is nine points adrift of Barcelona.
