Saudi Arabia plans to sign $4.5 billion in desalination and power contracts in the coming weeks, Asharq al-Awsat reported, citing an interview with Saline Water Conversion Corp. governor Abdulrahman Al-Ibrahim.
The project agreements to be signed with unspecified companies in Asia and Europe include a $3.1 billion power contract, a $1.01 billion desalination deal and energy conversion and electricity distribution line contracts.
The governor also said in the interview in Jeddah during an energy conference that the total of contracts in Saudi Arabia relating to water and energy is expected to reach $213 billion in the next 20 years.
